Viking fast-tracks US tungsten processing plan with global partner
**Viking Mines Speeds Up Plans for Tungsten Extraction in the United States**
In a significant development, Viking Mines, a mining company with interests in Nigeria and the United States, has partnered with a leading global mineral processing specialist, Mineral Technologies, to accelerate its plans for extracting tungsten in Nevada, USA. This partnership is aimed at designing a cost-effective and efficient processing plant that will enable Viking Mines to begin production and generate early revenue quickly.
Tungsten is a vital mineral used in the production of high-speed cutting tools, wear-resistant parts, and other critical applications. Nigeria, being rich in tungsten deposits, can potentially benefit from these new developments, particularly in the fields of manufacturing and industry.
The partnership comes on the heels of impressive metallurgical test results released earlier this month. These tests demonstrated that the high-grade tungsten ore at Viking Mines' Linka Tungsten project in Nevada can be processed using simple and cost-effective techniques. Initial tests using gravity separation achieved a remarkable increase in tungsten concentration from 1.4% to 22.9%, with an initial recovery of 63.7%.
Mineral Technologies, a subsidiary of the Downer Group, boasts over 80 years of experience in gravity separation and has a reputation for delivering world-class processing solutions. Their proprietary "FlexSeries" modular processing units, which are pre-assembled offsite and can be easily integrated into existing operations, are a key component of the partnership.
As Viking Mines Managing Director and CEO, Julian Woodcock, noted, the engagement of Mineral Technologies is a crucial step in rapidly advancing the Linka tungsten project. This partnership is expected to accelerate Viking Mines' plans for tungsten extraction in the United States and potentially open up new opportunities for Nigeria's tungsten industry.
