President Bola Tinubu welcomed Prime Minister Terrance Drew of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting, which took place on Thursday, was a significant step towards strengthening ties between Nigeria and the Caribbean nation. The two leaders engaged in bilateral discussions on key sectors such as education, agriculture, food security, and cultural exchange.
Prime Minister Drew led a delegation to Nigeria as part of efforts to deepen Afri-Caribbean ties. The visit included participation in the 2nd Afri-Caribbean Investment Summit. The meeting was marked by warm discussions and a formal handshake, reflecting the cordial diplomatic atmosphere.
This engagement marks the second known meeting between President Tinubu and Prime Minister Drew within a year. Their previous meeting took place on 29 March 2025 at the State House in Abuja, where discussions focused on bilateral cooperation in agriculture, trade, investment, and food security.
The recent visit by Prime Minister Terrance Drew to Abuja highlights the significance of President Tinubu's diplomatic efforts. By strengthening ties with the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Nigeria is furthering its interests in the Caribbean region. However, the real test lies in translating these diplomatic engagements into tangible benefits for Nigerians. With the country still grappling with food security challenges, the cooperation in agriculture and food security is particularly crucial. The success of these initiatives will be a key indicator of President Tinubu's ability to deliver on his promises.
