**UNICEF Supports Malaria Vaccination in Bauchi, Naija** In a bid to protect Bauchi children from malaria, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has donated 350 doses of malaria vaccine and logistical support to the Bauchi State government. The vaccines are intended for children under the age of two, with the goal of administering four doses to 280,000 children in the state. According to Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, Chief of Field Office at the Bauchi Field Office of UNICEF, the vaccines will be administered in four doses: the first and second doses one month apart, and the third dose six months after the second dose, with a booster dose given at 15 months of age. The First Lady of Bauchi State, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, flagged off the vaccination campaign at the Urban Maternity in Bauchi, urging community leaders and traditional leaders to encourage families to take their children to health facilities for the vaccine. Dr. Rafique also commended the Bauchi State government for its proactive approach to initiatives for children and mothers in the state. She expressed hope that with the state government's dynamic leadership and support from partners, the target of vaccinating 280,000 children will be reached. The First Lady emphasized the importance of the Mama2Mama support group and Fathers for Good Health (F4H) in motivating families to get their children vaccinated. She urged them to work together to make the campaign successful. With malaria being a significant health challenge in Nigeria, the introduction of the malaria vaccine is a welcome development.
