**UDUS Welcomes 6,505 Fresh Students for 2025/2026 Academic Session** Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS), one of Nigeria's leading institutions of higher learning, has successfully matriculated 6,505 students into its various faculties and colleges for the 2025/2026 academic session. This milestone marks a significant growth for the university, which has evolved from a humble beginning of 93 undergraduate students in 1977 to a multi-faculty institution with a strong focus on research and innovation. The newly admitted students are distributed across 17 faculties, including Agriculture, Social Sciences, Engineering, and the College of Health Sciences. Among them are 822 students who have been admitted into the highly competitive fields of medicine, veterinary medicine, and pharmaceutical sciences. Additionally, 1,008 students have been admitted into Postgraduate Studies, a testament to the university's commitment to academic excellence and research. In his address to the fresh students, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Garba, emphasized the university's dedication to nurturing them into capable scholars and leaders. He advised the students to stay focused on their studies, eschew social vices such as cultism and examination malpractice, and to always strive for academic excellence. For Mariam Abdullahi, a new student, the matriculation ceremony marked a new chapter in her academic journey. She expressed gratitude to her parents and pledged to remain committed to her studies, aiming to graduate with a first-class degree. The Student Union Government (SUG) President, Tasiu Aminu, also took the opportunity to counsel the fresh students. He urged them to prioritize their studies, engage in extracurricular activities, and develop leadership skills. Aminu commended the university management for its efforts to improve infrastructure, including hostels, and initiatives that boost students' career prospects. As the 2025/2026 academic session begins, UDUS is poised to make a significant impact in the lives of these fresh students.
