**Truecaller Gives You Power to Save Family Members from Scammers** In a bid to combat the growing menace of scammers and fraudsters in Nigeria, Truecaller, a leading caller identity platform with over 450 million users globally, has introduced a new feature that empowers one family member to protect others from unwanted calls. Dubbed 'Family Admin', this innovative feature allows one person to become the administrator of a family group, receiving alerts about potential scam calls received by other members. If the admin suspects a call might be a scam, they can remotely end the call on behalf of the affected family member. This feature is now available in Nigeria, alongside other countries like India, Kenya, Malaysia, and Sweden. With Family Admin, the most tech-savvy member of a family or friends group can create a group with up to five members, including themselves. Once the group is created, the admin receives alerts about potentially fraudulent calls received by other members. They can also remotely end calls for members on Android devices. For added peace of mind, admins can also monitor their family members' real-time activity, such as whether they're walking or driving, and even block certain numbers or international calling codes. This feature is particularly useful for families with elderly members or those living in areas with high rates of scamming, such as Nigeria's cybercrime-prone regions. According to Kunal Dua, Chief Product Officer at Truecaller, the inspiration behind this feature was the alarming number of people, including family and friends, who have fallen victim to scams. "Unfortunately, we all know someone who has been impacted by fraud," Dua said. "This new feature is a fundamental shift for Truecaller, as it empowers one family member to protect others from unwanted calls and scammers." The Family Admin feature is free to use, even for users without a paid Truecaller plan. This means that anyone can create groups, regardless of their subscription status, and start receiving alerts about potential scam calls. With this innovative feature, Truecaller aims to reduce the number of scam calls received by Nigerians and protect families from financial and emotional distress.
