The insurgents were met with strong resistance from troops, leading to significant losses on their side. "The terrorists came under heavy fire from the well-coordinated troops and were repelled, resulting in significant casualties on their side," the report stated. Several senior ISWAP commanders sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter, including Abu Ali Jango, Jundulla, and Saleh Madagali. The operation resulted in the recovery of weapons and intelligence materials from the scene, indicating sustained pressure on insurgent networks in the North-East. Security sources noted that the development underscores ongoing efforts by the military to degrade terrorist operations in the region. This latest operation comes days after troops, in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force, reportedly killed at least 61 ISWAP fighters during a failed infiltration attempt in Malam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State. The military has continued to intensify operations across the North-East in a bid to restore peace and prevent further attacks.
