Trafford to start final, but Man City exit door open
**Carabao Cup Final: James Trafford to Start, but Future at Man City Uncertain**
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that 23-year-old goalkeeper James Trafford will start in the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal on Sunday. However, Guardiola left the door open for Trafford to potentially leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season.
In an interview in February, Trafford expressed his surprise at being relegated to the bench behind Gianluigi Donnarumma. Guardiola chose not to comment on Trafford's comments at a recent news conference, but stated that the young goalkeeper would be in the team at Wembley.
Guardiola's response to Trafford's comments was brief, saying, "Players can be happy, unhappy. it is what it is." He emphasized the importance of Trafford and other players being prepared to perform at their best, with the future to be determined at the end of the season.
The Carabao Cup final marks the first of two upcoming matches between Manchester City and Arsenal. The teams will meet again in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium in April, a game that could potentially impact the destination of the Premier League trophy. However, Guardiola remains uncertain about whether winning the Carabao Cup will give City an advantage in the title race.
"I don't know," Guardiola said. "I said before, of course winning helps just for the fact that winning helps. We can win on Sunday and then be bad in the league. I learned that in many competitions and many games with a short time of recovery you have to have the ability to forget and move forwards."
