**Troops Give Bandits a Drubbing in Katsina, 45 Terrorists Fall** In a significant operation, troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully taken out at least 45 terrorists in Katsina State, the North-Western part of the country. This encounter happened in the Danmusa Local Government Area of the state on Friday, March 6. According to a statement released by the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mua’zu, the terrorists had initially attacked Alhazawa village in Musawa LGA on Thursday, rustling cattle belonging to residents. However, community members and some repentant bandits in the area resisted the attack, killing four of the assailants and recovering the stolen cattle. Not satisfied with this initial setback, the terrorists regrouped and returned on Friday with the intention of carrying out a reprisal attack. However, they were met with a strong response from the troops stationed at a forward operating base in Dan Ali, located in Danmusa LGA. The fierce gun battle that ensued resulted in the deaths of 45 terrorists, including two top leaders: Alti, the nephew and second-in-command to notorious bandit leader Adamu Alieru, and another top bandit known as Damale. This operation is a testament to the Nigerian Army's efforts in combating terrorism and banditry in the country. In August 2025, the state government had announced that troops of the Nigerian Army killed seven armed bandits and recovered four motorcycles in the Kankara Local Government Area of the state. This shows that the military is relentless in its pursuit of bringing peace to the region.
