“This Is Really Triggering” – Lil Kesh Reacts to Viral School Bullying Video
"Bullying in Schools: Lil Kesh Speaks Out Against Igbinedion Education Centre Video"
A disturbing video showing students of Igbinedion Education Centre in Edo State engaging in bullying and harassment has gone viral online, sparking widespread outrage and calls for accountability.
The footage, which has been circulating on social media, shows two male students mercilessly beating and kicking another student who had fallen to the ground, while their classmates watched in silence. The attackers even dragged the victim by his school uniform and stomped on his chest as he wailed in pain. Another student who was filming the incident could be heard pleading with the attackers to stop.
Nigerian singer Lil Kesh has spoken out against the incident, revealing that it brought back painful memories of his own childhood experiences of bullying. "This is really triggering for me to watch," he said. "I got bullied when I was younger, and seeing these kids gang up on others makes me mad."
Lil Kesh highlighted the psychological aspect of bullying, pointing out that perpetrators often struggle with empathy and personal insecurities. "What's sad is that it's always the kids with the least empathy, low self-esteem, and insecurities who pick on those who actually have a heart," he noted.
The singer also called on parents to instill values of kindness and empathy in their children, emphasizing that this kind of behavior doesn't come out of nowhere. "Parents really need to raise their kids to care about other people," he said.
Following the public backlash, the Edo State Police have confirmed that the students directly involved in the incident have been expelled by the school. The police have also launched a full investigation into the matter, vowing to deal with anyone found culpable according to the law.
As we continue to discuss the issue of bullying in our schools, it's essential to recognize that it's a problem that affects many children in Nigeria, not just the privileged few. We must work together to create a safer and more supportive environment for all students, where kindness, empathy, and respect are valued and encouraged.
