Taraba PDP elders reject parallel groups, rally support for leadership
**Taraba PDP Elders Stand Firm Behind Party Leadership**
In a significant move, the Elders Forum and the Like-minds Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State have reaffirmed their support for the existing party leadership structure in the state. This stance was announced in a joint communiqué issued after a meeting of senior party members and stakeholders in Jalingo, the state capital.
The communiqué, signed by John Mamman and Hilkiah Bubajoda Mafindi, respectively the chairmen of the Elders Forum and the Like-minds Forum, declared that the two groups do not recognize any parallel groups operating outside the legally constituted leadership of the PDP in Taraba State. They urged party members to respect the existing party hierarchy and work together to promote unity within the PDP.
The Taraba PDP elders also called on members across the state to take part in the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise. They described this process as crucial to strengthening the party's membership base and organizational capacity. The stakeholders appealed to party faithful at the ward and local government levels to support and facilitate the registration process in their areas to ensure wider participation.
The meeting came as discussions continue at the national level regarding issues affecting the party. Despite these ongoing talks, the forum urged members to remain calm and law-abiding while awaiting the outcome of deliberations by the PDP Board of Trustees.
This move by the Taraba PDP elders is a significant attempt to strengthen the party's internal structure and promote unity among members. By affirming their support for the existing leadership and urging members to participate in the E-registration exercise, they hope to build a stronger and more united PDP in the state. As the party navigates these challenges, it remains to be seen how this move will impact the PDP's fortunes in Taraba State.
