Super Eagles Squad: Nwabali out, Otele, Yira Sor, Fernandez new call-ups
**Super Eagles Squad: New Faces, Old Ones Drop Out**
Nigeria's national football team, the Super Eagles, is gearing up for two friendly matches against Iran and Jordan in Turkey. In a recent squad announcement, coach Eric Chelle has named 23 players, including some exciting new faces. Among those who will not be part of the team are goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who is without a club.
Nwabali's exclusion from the squad is not entirely surprising, given that he has been without a club for some time. However, his replacement, Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, is a welcome addition to the team. Okoye was initially set to miss the 2025 AFCON due to a lack of playing time, but he has now been given the chance to prove himself with the Super Eagles.
Other new call-ups include Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez, Yira Sor from Belgian club Genk, and Philip Otele from Hamburg. Fernandez has been impressing with Rangers in Scotland, while Sor has been in top form at Genk, and Otele is pushing for more playing time at Hamburg.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will face Iran on Friday, 27th March, in Antalya, Turkey, with kick-off set for 4 pm local time. The team will then take on Jordan on Tuesday, 31st March, with kick-off set for 8 pm local time. These matches were originally scheduled to take place in Jordan, but they had to be moved due to military conflict in the region.
The Super Eagles' squad includes some familiar names, such as team captain Wilfred Ndidi, midfielder Alex Iwobi, and forward Ademola Lookman. The team's goalkeeper options include Maduka Okoye, Adeleye Adebayo, and Francis Uzoho.
This friendly double-header provides the Super Eagles with an opportunity to test their skills and prepare for upcoming matches. With some exciting new faces in the squad, fans are eagerly anticipating the team's performance in these matches.
