Stakeholders in Southern Adamawa have endorsed Kwamoti Laori as their consensus candidate for the 2027 senate election. The decision was announced by Mr Ali Burama, convener of the group, during a meeting held on Saturday in Numan Local Government Area. Representatives from all nine local governments in the zone attended the gathering. Burama said the choice followed wide consultations with traditional rulers, political actors, youth groups and community leaders. "Our decision is to secure credible representation. We believe Laori has the competence, experience and vision to deliver democratic dividends," he said.

Burama described Laori as a leader with strong legislative performance and consistent engagement with constituents. "We believe in his leadership. He can advocate improved education, economic development and youth empowerment," he added. He credited Laori with facilitating projects across the 33 wards in his current constituency. The stakeholders also donated over N20 million to support his nomination forms. Burama urged other political actors to back the consensus and called on residents to remain peaceful and participate in the electoral process.

Mr James Iliya, Adamawa State Commissioner for Information, praised the consensus move. He called Laori a grassroots politician with deep understanding of the people's needs. Iliya said development priorities should include tertiary institutions, skills acquisition centres and infrastructure. He expressed confidence that Laori would deliver more if elected. Laori has not yet formally declared his candidacy, but sources confirm ongoing consultations ahead of an official announcement.
