A coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups and stakeholders in Kaduna state has endorsed former senator Shehu Sani for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District ticket in the 2027 general elections. The coalition includes youth and women groups, party mobilisers, grassroots campaign structures, and community leaders from the seven local government areas in the district. They announced the endorsement following a strategic stakeholders' meeting held in Kaduna.
Comrade Musa Ibrahim, the coalition's Convener, said the decision came after extensive consultations across the senatorial district. He cited Sani's performance in the National Assembly between 2015 and 2019 as a major factor, highlighting what the groups described as his "visible achievements, courage and people-oriented representation." Ibrahim noted that Sani facilitated constituency projects including the construction and rehabilitation of primary healthcare centres, educational support initiatives, rural infrastructure development, and empowerment programmes for youths and women.
The coalition stated that Sani remains the most experienced, acceptable and credible aspirant capable of uniting the APC and securing victory in 2027. His record of activism, advocacy on national issues, and strong grassroots connection were also cited. Hajiya Zainab Mohammed, a stakeholder, said women and youth groups support Sani due to his accessibility and inclusive leadership style. She added that beneficiaries of his scholarship schemes, empowerment programmes and social interventions still identify with his leadership.
The coalition urged other APC aspirants to promote unity and called on party leaders to deepen internal cohesion ahead of the primaries.
