Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, representing Osun Central, disclosed on Monday that Bisi Akande, former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress and ex-governor of Osun State, has granted him full support for his 2027 re-election bid. Photographs showing Fadeyi presenting his expression of interest and APC nomination form to Akande circulated on social media over the weekend. The meeting took place in Ila Orangun, the hometown shared by both men. Fadeyi, who currently chairs the Senate Committee on Environment, confirmed the encounter and said he updated Akande on his consultations across the 10 local governments in the Central Senatorial District. He stated that Akande expressed happiness over the widespread backing Fadeyi claimed from party leaders, elders, youth and women leaders, as well as federal constituency representatives. According to Fadeyi, Akande praised his legislative performance over the past three years as "highly commendable" and urged him to continue working in the interest of the APC. Fadeyi, elected to the Senate in 2023 under the People's Democratic Party, has since defected to the APC along with four other federal lawmakers from Osun State.
