A couple of years after his appointment as the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun's reign appears to be coming to an abrupt end.
Legit.ng reported that Egbetokun was, on Monday, June 19, 2023, appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the acting IGP before his appointment was eventually confirmed by the Senate.
The president appointed Egbetokun as the 22nd IGP after the retirement of the former Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.

After about three years in the seat, multiple media reports on Tuesday, February 24, stated that President Tinubu has directed Egbetokun to resign following a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa.
