Sanwo-Olu restates commitment to women empowerment on International Women’s Day
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating more opportunities for women to grow, lead and succeed, stressing that investing in women remains key to societal progress.
Sanwo-Olu stated this in commemoration of the 2026 International Women’s Day, noting that the theme for this year, “Give to Gain,” highlights the importance of supporting women and creating inclusive opportunities across all sectors.
The governor said meaningful development can only be achieved when deliberate efforts are made to empower women and girls in homes, workplaces and communities.
According to him, empowering women does not only benefit individuals but also strengthens families, organisations and the society at large.
“When we invest in women, everyone benefits. Give to Gain, the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day, reminds us that progress does not happen by chance. It happens when we choose to support women and create real opportunities for women and girls in our homes, workplaces, and communities,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu assured that his administration would continue to promote policies and programmes that encourage gender inclusion, leadership opportunities and economic empowerment for women across Lagos State.
“I congratulate women on the occasion of this year’s International Women’s Day. I remain committed to building a Lagos where every woman has the chance to grow, lead, and succeed,” he said.
