Nigeria stands at a defining democratic moment. The renewed push for the Women Reserved Seats Bill is not merely another legislative exercise; it is a test of the nation’s commitment to fairness, inclusion and representative governance. When the ninth Assembly of the National Assembly declined to pass earlier gender-related amendments, many women in politics felt disappointed and fatigued. Yet, they did not abandon the cause. Instead, they regrouped, refined their advocacy and returned peacefully to urge the present Assembly to act with courage where its predecessor hesitated.
