Raven-Symoné gave a list of former Disney Channel stars who belonged on her imaginary Mount Rushmore for the network. She notably left off Miley Cyrus, despite her success with Hannah Montana. Fans were pretty divided about Raven leaving Miley off of her list. Though Raven-Symoné hasn’t achieved official Disney Legend status (yet), the That’s So Raven star has earned her place in the Disney Channel as a founding figure—and she thinks a few other stars from the network’s history has, too…with maybe a few reasonable exceptions. In a March 10 interview with The Shade Room, Raven was asked who her Mount Rushmore of Disney darlings would be, as in the people who shaped Disney Channel’s golden era and gave an answer that left Disney fans pretty divided. "I would say me, Hilary [Duff], Shia [LaBeouf],” she said. But when Hannah Montana star, Miley Cyrus, was brought up as a potential Disney Rushmore member, she said, “No, not Miley. I love you, Miley, but not Miley. She came after.” She instead opted for Lee Thompson Young, who starred in The Famous Jett Jackson on Disney between 1998 and 2001; he later died in 2013. "I would also put in The Famous Jett Jackson,” Raven added. “He is no longer with us, but he was the first Black show on Disney. I believe he should be on Mount Rushmore of Disney. He definitely deserves a spot.” Naturally, things got pretty heated in the comments section of TheShadeRoom’s Instagram post about Raven’s picks. “Nah Miley deserves to be on it. I think legends should be on it. I don’t care who came before or after,” one user wrote. “For her era this 100% correct with Kyla Pratt as an honorable mention! After that it’s Miley, Selena, Demi, & the Sprouse Twins for sure,” another user wrote, while another one added, “She didn’t discredit Miley Cyrus. The question was WHO PAVED THE WAY. Miley Cyrus was AFTER the ones Raven listed.” Regardless of what fans think, Miley’s impact on Disney is being celebrated with the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special on March 24, which will see her revisiting sets from the iconic show, reuniting with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, and sitting down for a special interview with Alex Cooper. And yes, I will be tuned in.
