Ramadan Welfare Packages: Zamfara First Lady Shows Love, Support to Orphans and Vulnerable Groups As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, Nigerians across the country are gearing up for a season of reflection, prayer, and charity. In Zamfara State, the First Lady, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has taken the lead in showing love and support to the less privileged in her state. Recently, she flagged off the distribution of Ramadan welfare packages to 16,000 orphans and vulnerable groups across the 19 Emirates of Zamfara. This gesture is a significant improvement from last year, when the Zakat and Endowment Board distributed packages to 6,000 orphans. The increase in the number of beneficiaries this year is a testament to the government's commitment to alleviating poverty and hardship in the state. Each beneficiary will receive 25 kilograms of rice, a wrapper or fabric, and ₦20,000 cash support, a gesture that will surely bring joy to their faces during this holy month. The Executive Chairman of the Zakat and Endowment Board, Malam Ahmad Ibn Sheikh Umar Kanoma, emphasized that the board's role is not only to collect and distribute Zakat but also to ensure that it reaches the rightful beneficiaries. He appealed to wealthy individuals to collaborate with the board when distributing their Zakat, to ensure that it reaches those who need it most. The Zamfara State Government's support for the board's activities is a commendable act of charity and humanitarianism. By enhancing the board's activities, the government is promoting religious and humanitarian initiatives across the state, and setting a positive example for other states to follow.
