Quds Day: Islamic Movement Urges Action on Gaza, Iran

The Islamic Movement has called for decisive action on the Gaza and Iran crises, condemning the humanitarian suffering of Palestinians as a reflection of the broader failure of unity and adherence to Islamic principles within the Muslim Ummah. The group, Al-Harakatul Islamiyyah, made this demand during the 2026 Quds Day commemoration in Ilorin, where a demonstration was held.

The group's Amir, Mallam AbdulRazzaq AbdulWahab Al-Amin Aladodo, stated that the persistence of Palestinian suffering and the desecration of Masjid Al-Aqsa demonstrate a world that has abandoned divine guidance. He described Masjid Al-Aqsa as the third holiest site in Islam, emphasizing its historical and spiritual significance to Muslim identity and global solidarity.

Al-Harakatul Islamiyyah has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to take a firm stance on the Middle East crisis, including severing diplomatic ties with Israel. The group argues that mere calls for cessation of hostilities are insufficient, given the aggressors' known identities. They also condemned the aggression by Israel and the United States against Iran, warning that neutrality in the face of injustice undermines global peace efforts.

The group expressed support for Iran's role in the crisis, describing the country as giving a good account of itself in the unfolding conflict. They urged Muslim countries to close ranks and set aside internal divisions, particularly tensions involving Gulf states and Iran. The group also criticised the Abraham Accords, describing the agreement as detrimental to Palestinian interests.
