The peaceful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Zonal Congress in the North-Eastern states has been hailed as a reflection of the party's deliberate stability. The congress, hosted by the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, saw the election of Barr. Idris Shaibu Gella as the new National Vice Chairman, North-East. The event drew a large number of influential leaders within the APC fold, including Governors Mai Mala Buni, Agbu Kefas, and Ahmadu Fintiri.
Abdulrahman Haske, a chieftain of the APC and governorship aspirant in Adamawa State, attributed the success of the congress to the purposeful leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Haske noted that the peaceful conduct of the congress reflects the party's institutionalised progressive governance at local, state, and national levels.
The APC has positioned itself as a party that has created a stable environment for all stakeholders, according to Haske. He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and the national leadership of the APC for fostering a transparent and inclusive political environment within the party.
The congress was marked by a vibrant show of solidarity, with supporters carrying placards, posters, and banners while chanting the slogan "Haske Maganin Duhu" and "Haske Is Okay." The event was seen as a significant step in the rising political wave ahead of the next governorship race in Adamawa.
The APC's emphasis on intra-party stability and purposeful leadership is a welcome development, but it remains to be seen whether this translates to tangible benefits for the people of Adamawa State. The party's ability to consolidate its strength ahead of future electoral contests will be crucial in determining its success. The enthusiastic reception of Abdulrahman Haske at the congress suggests that his governorship aspiration is gaining traction, but it is essential to examine the substance behind his campaign promises. The APC's commitment to democratic values and development agenda will be put to the test in the coming months.
