The Federal High Court in Abuja has set June 19 for judgment in a suit filed by PRNigeria publisher Yushau Shuaib against the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru-Jos. Shuaib is challenging his withdrawal from the Senior Executive Course 47 after his admission was approved and all payments, including ₦18.3 million for the programme, were made. He claims the withdrawal was unlawful and seeks reinstatement into the course with full rights and privileges.
Shuaib is also seeking ₦1 billion in general and aggravated damages for emotional and reputational harm, and ₦100 million as litigation costs. A perpetual injunction to stop NIPSS from harassing or intimidating him is another relief sought in the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1329/2025. His counsel, Mr Teslim Adigun, told the court that Shuaib had filed a 43-paragraph affidavit, 14 exhibits, and a written address in support of the claims.
In response, NIPSS counsel, Mr P.A Akubo, SAN, described the claims as exaggerated and urged the court to dismiss the suit. Justice Binta Nyako presided over the hearing and directed both parties to adopt their written arguments. She also ordered Shuaib to return the key to the hostel accommodation he occupied, a directive he resisted on the grounds that his payment covered full accommodation for the course duration. The court's judgment will determine the legality of his suspension and withdrawal.
