**Sallah Season: Police Clamp Down on Cattle Rustlers, Motorcycle Thieves in Jigawa** As Nigerians prepare to celebrate the Sallah season, a period of festivity and thanksgiving, law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for citizens. In Jigawa State, the police command has been on a mission to strengthen security networks, and their efforts have yielded impressive results in recent times. In the past few weeks, the Jigawa State Police Command has carried out several operations that have led to the arrest of suspected cattle rustlers, motorcycle thieves, and drug peddlers. The operations, according to the state police spokesman, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, are part of the Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammad's efforts to reinforce security in the state. One of the notable operations took place on January 15, 2026, in Hadejia, where a patrol team intercepted a suspicious vehicle suspected of being used in transporting stolen livestock. The vehicle, a dark green Golf 3, was found to contain incriminating items, including animal droppings, hair, rope, and illicit substances. The suspects, Adamu Sani Ya'u and Musa Abdullahi, are currently being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse. In another operation, the police in Taura Local Government Area apprehended a group of robbers who had blocked a road and snatched a resident's motorcycle. The bike was later recovered through intelligence-led operations in the area. In Birnin Kudu, detectives also arrested three suspected motorcycle thieves and recovered a Bajaj motorcycle. Another unregistered motorcycle was recovered in Hadejia after a suspect fled on sighting the police. The recent arrests are a welcome development in the fight against crime in Jigawa State. As Nigerians celebrate the Sallah season, they can take comfort in knowing that the police are working hard to ensure their safety and security. The success of these operations is a testament to the police command's commitment to strengthening security networks in the state.
