Police arrest six over car theft, recover three stolen vehicles in Kano

In a major breakthrough, the Kano State Police Command has arrested six suspected car thieves and recovered three stolen vehicles in the state. This development comes as a result of sustained efforts by the police to combat vehicle theft through intelligence- and technology-driven operations.
According to sources, the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) of the police command, under the supervision of Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, was instrumental in the arrests. The first suspect, a 35-year-old man from Zamfara State, was apprehended at Hotoro Ring Road in Kano on February 13, 2026. During interrogation, he revealed that he had stolen several vehicles in Kano, Kaduna, and Katsina states.
The suspect, who has been identified as Aliyu Mamman, implicated his accomplices, including Abdulhamid Usman, Saliha Abdulhamid, Auwal Shuaibu, Sani Bala, and Ahmad Mannir. The police subsequently arrested all of them, leading to the recovery of a Golf Wagon, a Golf Opel, and a Hijet (Kurkura) vehicle.
The Commissioner of Police has commended the SIS for their dedication and professionalism in effecting the arrests and recovering the stolen vehicles. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or via the police's emergency numbers.
