Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have made a significant arrest in the fight against cultism. Julius Oseyomon, aged 64, and three others - Abraham Erumosele Momo, 54, Solomon Oboigbe, 27, and Fidelis Omale, 26 - are in custody for alleged cultism. The suspects were apprehended on March 24, 2026, at 0200hrs by operatives of Uromi Division, following a well-coordinated operation based on credible intelligence.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed in a statement that the suspects are from Ewoyi Quarters, residents of Atani and Eco Obedo, all in Uromi. The operation led to the recovery of four English pump-action guns, alongside nine live cartridges and three expended cartridges. Preliminary investigation suggests that the suspects are members of the Eiye Confraternity, and the firearms were obtained through illegal means.
The suspects have since been arraigned before court for prosecution, following a diligent investigation by the Command. The Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, commended the operatives for their professionalism and prompt response. He reiterated the Command's resolve to sustain the crackdown on cultism and other criminal activities, as well as mopping up firearms across the state.
