The newly elected chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Alabh George Turnah, has said the party is prepared to dislodge the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government during the 2027 general election in the state. Speaking shortly after his election and swearing in as the new chairman of the the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike-backed faction of the party in Bayelsa, Turnah urged members to work together as a united family “because the party is still alive in the state”. The state elective congress of the party monitored by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) elected Turnah at the weekend. SPONSOR AD The 20-man state working committee of the party in Bayelsa also includes, Ato Alfreder Ebibofayei as Secretary and Biobelemoyei Goniwari as Treasurer, among others. The Chairman of the electoral panel for Bayelsa State, Hon. Austin Sor, who conducted the election, commended party members in the state for the peaceful gesture, saying PDP will continue to be strong and dominant party in the state. Turnah said PDP will take back the governance of the state and return to Creek Haven, the seat of power in Bayelsa, urging members to work together as united family. He said: “We thank our delegates, the panel and INEC observers, I like to accept this mandate, on behalf my team, members of the newly elected State Working Committee and myself, we say we are delighted to take this mandate as a sacred mandate of our people given to us freely and we will not betray this confidence that you have all reposed in us. “We will work with all our hearts, in line with the oath of office that we have just taken before you today. “I assure you, it is a new dawn for PDP in Bayelsa State, PDP is Bayelsa and Bayelsa is PDP, don’t be deceived in what seems to look like PDP is now an opposition party in Bayelsa, that is theoretical, what is practical is that PDP is a majority party in Bayelsa state. At the right time, our people in Bayelsa State and indeed Ijaw people will reciprocate as we have always done, in appreciation to this party that has given the Ijaw man everything we would have ever ask for in this project Nigeria. “We are not ungrateful people, we will continue to stand by this party, even when human machination fail PDP in Bayelsa State, God has always intervene, that God that intervened on behalf of PDP in Bayelsa in 2019, is still the same God today, come 2027, PDP will under our leadership will not only make strong statement, we will also deliver to the expectations of the world, Bayelsa Creek Haven belongs to PDP. “I assure you, we will run an open door administration for this party, it is going to be all for it and it for all, PDP will stand for you and we expect that you will also stand for PDP.”
