The All Progressives Congress in Osun State announced on Tuesday that Oluwole Oke, a five-term federal lawmaker, will serve as Director General of the party's 2026 governorship campaign committee. The APC also named campaign directors for the three senatorial districts: Prince Adebayo Adeleke for Osun Central, Prince Dotun Babayemi for Osun West, and Thomas Ogungbangbe for Osun East. Oke, speaking after his appointment, thanked party leaders and declared that Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration has been given a "quit notice," asserting the APC's track record of unseating sitting governors.
Bola Oyebamiji, the APC's governorship candidate, called for unity among members ahead of the August 15, 2026 election. He praised the campaign structure's formation and urged grassroots mobilisation. The party also unveiled leadership teams for all nine federal constituencies, assigning chairmen, co-chairmen and secretaries to coordinate efforts. Prince Adebayo Adeleke, designated for Osun Central, pledged a peaceful campaign and expressed confidence in Oyebamiji's victory.
Oluwole Oke's appointment signals a direct challenge to Governor Ademola Adeleke, framing the 2026 race as a rematch with high stakes. If the APC repeats its past success in unseating sitting governors, Osun voters may face another cycle of political turnover rather than continuity.
