Ondo State Police Command announced the arrest of Adegbenro Adeola, a member of a kidnapping gang operating in Akure. The arrest followed the abduction of Kayode Alaba, who was taken from his residence along Irese Road on Tuesday, 5th May 2026. Operatives launched a pursuit, during which the suspects ejected Kayode from the moving vehicle to escape. Police apprehended Adeola while the other suspects fled. The vehicle was recovered and the victim, Kayode Alaba, was rescued and taken for medical attention.
Jimoh stated that preliminary investigations show Adeola has provided information aiding ongoing efforts. The case has been transferred to the Violence Crime Response Unit in Akure to track down the remaining suspects. Residents were urged to share credible information to assist police in combating crime.
On a separate note, the Nigeria Police Force said six suspected kidnappers were arrested in Kaduna State on April 3, 2026, by the Force Intelligence Department–Special Tactical Squad. Several victims were rescued during the operation.
