Olivia Rodrigo Reveals OR3 Is Full Of “Sad Love Songs,” Including One Inspired by ‘Sex and the City’
**Olivia Rodrigo Teases Tracks from Upcoming Third Album, OR3**
British Vogue's latest cover star, Olivia Rodrigo, has given fans a glimpse into her highly anticipated third album, OR3. The Grammy winner revealed three tracks from the album in an April 2026 interview with *British Vogue*. The album, which has been dubbed OR3 by fans, focuses on the obsession and anxiety surrounding romance.
According to *British Vogue*, Olivia's third album is full of "sad love songs." In an email, she explained that her favorite romantic love songs often have a "tinge of fear or yearning" in them. The album's name has yet to be revealed, but Olivia stated that it is inspired by the complexities of love and relationships.
One of the tracks, described as a "smooth, trippy soft rock" song with lyrics about finding the man of your dreams, has a positive tone. Olivia described the person the song is about as "great." Another song, which is "dreamy" and "hazy," details the "withdrawal symptoms of separation" in a relationship. This track was inspired by the on-again, off-again romance between Miranda Hobbes and Steve Brady on *Sex and the City*. Specifically, Olivia was inspired by a scene in season 2, episode 18, where Miranda reunites with Steve and says, "Whenever something funny happens, I always want to tell you about it."
A third song, featuring orchestral strings, is described by Olivia as what she thinks being in love feels like. She explained that being in love means getting to the core of your issues, including your insecurities and what makes you joyful. Olivia described this feeling as "scary and terrifying and uncomfortable, sometimes, but beautiful at times."
Olivia has previously spoken about her creative process for the album. In an October 2025 interview with *Cosmopolitan*, she explained that she finds it difficult to write songs while on tour. She prefers to write from home, where she can feel grounded and comfortable. Olivia stated that she didn't write a lot of material while on tour, but instead focused on writing at her home in L.A.
