**Clearing the Air: Edo State Governor Not Behind Attack on Obi and Oyegun**
In a bid to set the record straight, Hon. Billy Osawaru, a representative of Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has come to the defense of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, over allegations linking him to the attack on Mr. Peter Obi, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, and other African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftains in the state.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, leaving many wondering if the governor was behind the attack. However, Hon. Osawaru believes this is a malicious claim that should be thrown out. According to him, politics of bitterness has no place in Nigeria, and no ambition should come at the cost of Nigerian lives.
Osawaru recalled the governor's earlier warning to Obi, which he believes was a genuine concern for his safety and wellbeing, considering the unrest that followed his previous visit to the state. He pointed out that the governor had maintained that politically exposed persons should notify relevant authorities before holding public events to ensure adequate security coordination.
While condemning the attack, Osawaru emphasized that the governor's administration is not in the business of attacking innocent Nigerians, regardless of their political affiliation. He stressed that allegations without concrete evidence are baseless and politically-motivated.
Osawaru called for a thorough investigation into the incident, expressing confidence that it would clear the governor's name. He urged all parties to allow the investigation to run its course and refrain from making statements that could prejudice the outcome.
In a state with a history of political tensions, Osawaru's words are a reminder that peace and stability are what the people of Edo deserve. Let us focus on facts, not fiction, and allow the truth to come to light.
