Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State have unanimously endorsed Senator Solomon Adeola, representing Ogun West, as the party's consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election. The decision was reached at a strategic caucus meeting held at the APC secretariat in Abeokuta on Monday. Governor Dapo Abiodun announced the resolution after the two-hour meeting, which was attended by former governors Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Otunba Gbenga Daniel. Several APC gubernatorial aspirants were also present, including Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, Gboyega Isiaka, Tunde Lemo and Isiak Akinlade. Abiodun praised the party's unity, describing the outcome as a product of political magnanimity. "It gives me great pleasure and on behalf of all of you to congratulate Senator Adeola as our consensus and unanimously selected elected governorship candidate for the year 2027," he said. He emphasized that the selection does not guarantee victory, urging party members to begin election preparations immediately. Senator Adeola, who chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations, expressed gratitude for the endorsement and pledged to build on the achievements of previous administrations if elected.
