Governor Dapo Abiodun has publicly endorsed Senator Solomon Adeola, representing Ogun West, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election. The announcement was made during a strategic caucus meeting with APC leaders and key stakeholders, where Abiodun declared the succession decision already settled. Footage from the meeting showed Abiodun informing party members of the choice, effectively closing debate on the matter. The Ogun West chapter of the City Boy Movement welcomed the decision, with its coordinator, Ayodeji Idowu, issuing a statement on Monday affirming the group's full support for Adeola. Known as Yayi, Adeola is credited with notable infrastructure projects and strong grassroots engagement. The movement described Abiodun's move as politically astute, ensuring stability and continuity. In the statement, Idowu praised the governor's leadership, calling the endorsement a demonstration of foresight. The group also commended Adeola's track record, particularly in delivering people-centred projects. The City Boy Movement pledged to mobilise its network across Ogun West to support the APC's electoral success in 2027.
