**NYSC Introduces Digital ID System to Boost Efficiency, Reduce Administrative Delays** The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has taken a significant step in its digital transformation journey by launching a digital identification (ID) system for corps members across Nigeria. During a capacity-building workshop for Local Government Inspectors (LGIs) in Abuja, officials highlighted the increasing role of technology in modernising NYSC operations. Kwaghe Joseph Vandi, Acting Director of Information and Communication Technology, noted that the Scheme has implemented several ICT-driven platforms, such as the NYSC Integrated System (NIS) and the biometric monthly clearance system, which have streamlined administrative processes and strengthened oversight. The new digital ID system allows corps members to generate and download their identification cards directly from the NYSC online portal. This innovation is designed to eliminate common challenges, including lost ID cards, delays in replacement, and long queues associated with manual processing. With this system, corps members can access their identification at any time, reducing bottlenecks and improving overall convenience. According to Vandi, the success of these initiatives depends on how effectively LGIs utilise them in their daily responsibilities. He described the training programme as a strategic investment in human capital, aimed at equipping officers with the digital skills required to function in an increasingly data-driven environment. This development is a welcome relief for many Nigerian youths who have faced challenges with the manual ID card system.
