“Nothing of the sort happened to me” — Lawmaker’s Wife Denies Assault Allegations Against Husband
Glory Agbor, wife of Dickson Agbor, the lawmaker representing Obubra I State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, has denied allegations that her husband physically assaulted her.
The controversy began after a video circulated online showing Glory appearing injured, with claims that the injuries resulted from a domestic dispute involving the lawmaker.
The footage triggered public outrage and led the Cross River State House of Assembly to place Dickson Agbor on indefinite suspension over alleged violent behaviour.
However, in a new video shared on social media, Glory dismissed the allegations as false, insisting that no such incident occurred.
“I am out here to tell Nigerians and all persons both home and abroad that what has been online for the past three to four days is a false accusation and nothing of such actually happened,” she said.
She suggested that the viral clip may have been fabricated or manipulated, possibly using artificial intelligence, as part of a smear campaign aimed at damaging her husband’s political reputation ahead of upcoming elections.
“Maybe it is AI, or they want to use that to blackmail me and my husband. You know the election is around the corner, and maybe they want to use that one to bring him down,” she added.
Glory also maintained that she had not been harmed, urging the public not to believe the claims circulating online.
“Nothing of the sort happened to me. Look at me, I am okay, I am good. Did you see any mark on my face or anything of such? Nothing of such ever happened.”
The allegations had earlier generated significant reactions on social media before the clarification from the lawmaker’s wife.
