No ransom paid for release of Niger school children – FG

The federal government, Tuesday, denied allegations in some section of the media that alleging that it paid a “huge” ransom, including the release of militant commanders, to secure the freedom of the schoolchildren abducted from St. Mary’s boarding school in Niger State.
The minister of information and national orientation Alhaji Mohammed Idris in a statement he personally signed described the report as false and baseless.
According to him, the report constitutes a disservice to Nigeria’s security agencies.
