A 35-year-old Nigerian woman, Gloria Makanjuola, who assaulted a man on a Central Line train I, East London, smashed his phone, and tried to steal his wallet has been jailed following a British Transport Police (BTP) investigation. BTP disclosed this in a statement on February 25, 2026. Makanjuola, of Cranbrook Road in Ilford, was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday 19 February to nine months' imprisonment having pleaded guilty to Assault and Attempted Theft. The court heard how on Friday 3 March 2023, just before midnight, the victim was travelling on an Eastbound Central Line train to Hainault reading a newspaper.
