**Intense Battle in Imo State as Nigerian Troops Clash with IPOB Fighters**
In a recent operation, Nigerian troops clashed with suspected members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in a hideout in Mother Valley, Nkwerre, Imo State. The Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security operatives, confirmed that one IPOB fighter was killed and two others were arrested during the intense battle.
The operation, carried out by troops of Operation Udo Ka, which includes soldiers, police officers, and civil defence corps personnel, was a long time coming. Nkwerre, the headquarters of Nkwerre Local Government Area in Imo State, has been a known enclave of IPOB fighters for a while now. The operation was a decisive blow to the separatist group, as troops advanced relentlessly through difficult terrain to penetrate and dominate the hideout, despite fierce resistance from the IPOB fighters.
During the intense engagement, the IPOB fighters used locally made hand-held improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and heavy gunfire in a desperate attempt to halt the advance of the troops. However, the Nigerian Army remained undeterred and decisively overwhelmed the hostile elements, neutralising one IPOB member and shattering their defensive positions and operational cohesion.
The operation was a significant success for the Nigerian Army, as they recovered several items from the suspects, including pump-action guns, a locally fabricated gun, tear gas guns, gas cylinders, and flags linked to the group. The troops also destroyed life-support structures at the terrorists' Supreme Headquarters in the valley, including solar panels and a Mikano generator, dealing a critical blow to their operational sustainability.
In a related operation, two suspected IPOB members were arrested by an ambush team. One of the suspects was attempting to place an IED, while the other was identified as a spy monitoring the troop's movements. The suspects are currently in custody for profiling and further investigation.
This operation sends a clear message to all criminal elements that there will be no hiding place, no sanctuary, and no escape. The Nigerian Army remains resolute, relentless, and fully committed to dismantling all terrorist networks across the South-east and Nigeria. Law-abiding citizens are assured of sustained security presence and protection, as the Nigerian Army continues to work tirelessly to ensure peace and stability in the country.
