**Nigeria Police, British High Commission Strengthen Anti-Terrorism Efforts** The Nigeria Police Force has taken a significant step towards boosting its counter-terrorism capabilities with the help of the British High Commission. As part of efforts to enhance the country's security, the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has authorized the establishment of new Counter Terrorism Bases in three strategic locations: Madagali in Adamawa State, Ikot Odo in Akpabuyo, Cross River State, and Ode-Remo in Ogun State. This development follows the completion of a two-week training program for fifty-six officers of the Counter Terrorism Unit by the British government. The training, which took place in Abuja, aimed at equipping the officers with modern skills and techniques in fighting terrorism, analyzing intelligence, and carrying out operations effectively. The program, which was a collaboration between the Nigeria Police and the British High Commission, involved the Office of the Counter Terrorism Regional Coordinator for West Africa. According to the Nigeria Police, the training is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the Force's ability to tackle terrorism, banditry, and other serious crimes that threaten national security. The training covered critical areas such as Close Quarter Battle and Intelligence Analysis. The officers were selected from the Counter Terrorism Units of the Nigeria Police Force and were expected to apply the skills and knowledge gained during their fieldwork to address emerging security challenges. Speaking at the closing ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Ian Tyler from the Office of the Counter Terrorism Regional Coordinator for West Africa praised the participants for their enthusiasm and professionalism. He emphasized the British government's commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force in its efforts to combat terrorism. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, through the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, who leads the Counter Terrorism Unit, expressed appreciation for the British High Commission's support and assured that the Nigeria Police Force is dedicated to working together with the British government to enhance counter-terrorism efforts in the country. This collaboration is a significant step towards strengthening Nigeria's security architecture and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
