Ngoshe Attack: Fed govt won’t allow terrorists occupy Nigerian soil, says Shettima
… Vows decisive action after renewed insurgent attacks in Borno
… Says additional tactical assets, intelligence reinforcements deployed
The Federal Government has declared that it will not tolerate any sanctuary for terrorists seeking to displace Nigerians or occupy any part of the nation’s territory, following renewed insurgent attacks in parts of Borno State.
Vice President Kashim Shettima made the declaration on Saturday while reacting to recent insurgency incidents, including abductions in Ngoshe community and coordinated assaults on military formations in Konduga, Marte, Jakana and Mainok.
According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already ordered a swift mobilisation of Nigeria’s security architecture to confront the attackers and restore stability in the affected areas.
In a statement issued by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima said “the events of the past few days are a painful reminder of the shadow that persists, but let it be known: we choose light over shadow, and hope over despair.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been briefed and has already directed a swift and total mobilisation of our security architecture. The Federal Government will not tolerate any sanctuary for those who seek to displace our people or occupy an inch of Nigerian soil”, Shettima said.
The Vice President assured Nigerians that the administration would not be intimidated by what he described as cowardly attempts by insurgents to undermine the nation’s peace and security.

He disclosed that additional tactical assets and intelligence-driven reinforcements are already being deployed to the affected areas to support ongoing operations by security forces.
“We are not just fighting a war. We are defending the very soul of our humanity against those who preach a toxic rhetoric of hate, and we will not be cowed by their gory acts,” the Vice President said.
Shettima also pledged that the perpetrators of the attacks would face the full wrath of the law, stressing that the government remained committed to rescuing all abducted victims and ensuring they are safely reunited with their families.
“Our hearts bleed for the families and the brave soldiers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty. This administration will not rest until abducted citizens safely reunite with their families,” he added.
The Vice President commended the resilience of the people and government of Borno State under Governor Babagana Zulum, as well as the gallantry of troops battling insurgents on the frontline.
He reiterated that the Nigerian state would deploy decisive force to end the violence and protect the sanctity of human life across the country.
“We remain one nation, tied to a common destiny. The sanctity of human life is non-negotiable. This madness will be brought to an end, not with empty words, but with the decisive and overwhelming force of the Nigerian State,” Shettima said.
