Abbas Nda Mohammed has been appointed the 16th commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State. He assumed office on Monday, replacing Bala Bodinga Bawa, who was redeployed to the NSCDC national headquarters in Abuja after serving slightly more than one month in the position. Mohammed brings over 20 years of experience in the NSCDC, having served in key roles across multiple commands. His previous assignments include Head of Operations in Kwara, Commandant at Zone 4 Headquarters in Minna, and leadership positions in Niger, Zamfara, and the FCT, including roles in anti-vandalism and counter-terrorism units.
Mohammed previously served as Commandant at Zone 4 Headquarters before his redeployment to Kwara. Upon assuming duty, he reaffirmed the NSCDC's commitment to protecting lives, property, and critical infrastructure in the state. He warned criminal elements, vandals, and economic saboteurs against operating in Kwara, stating the command would adopt proactive measures to maintain security. "Kwara State will not be a safe haven for criminals. We are fully prepared to deploy all necessary operational strategies to ensure the safety and security of lives and property," he said. He also pledged to deepen collaboration with other security agencies, traditional leaders, and stakeholders to promote peace.
