NDLEA Charges Vessel, 10 Filipino Over Alleged Importation Of 20kg Cocaine
**NDLEA Nabs Vessel and 10 Filipinos Over 20kg Cocaine Importation**
In a major crackdown on drug traffickers, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arraigned a vessel, MV Nord Bosporus, and 10 Filipino nationals before a Federal High Court in Lagos. The suspects are accused of importing 20 kilograms of cocaine into Nigeria.
The accused Filipinos, including Eugene Quinos Corpuz, Mark Joseph Jardiniano, and nine others, were arrested on November 16, 2025, at the GDNL Terminal Apapa port in Lagos. According to the prosecution, the Filipinos conspired to import the cocaine on board the vessel, MV Nord Bosporus.
The NDLEA operatives charged the vessel and the 10 Filipinos with four counts under the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act. However, the defendants denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty to all counts.
During the arraignment, the lead prosecutor, Barrister Theresa Asuquo, informed the court that the parties have signed a plea bargain agreement. This means that the prosecution intends to file an amended charge, and the court will hear the case on a later date.
As Nigeria continues to battle the scourge of drug trafficking, this development highlights the agency's efforts to clamp down on illicit activities at our ports. The NDLEA's success in arresting the vessel and the Filipinos is a positive step in the fight against drug peddling in our country.
The importation of 20 kilograms of cocaine is a significant seizure, and it shows that the NDLEA is committed to protecting our borders and preventing the influx of illicit substances. The agency's efforts are crucial in maintaining the country's security and public health.
The case will continue in court, and it remains to be seen what the outcome will be. For now, the NDLEA's determination to tackle drug trafficking in Nigeria is a reassuring sight for Nigerians who value the safety and security of our nation.
