**Fake Pregnancy Scam: NDLEA Uncovers Another Naija Trafficker**
In a shocking turn of events, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 35-year-old businesswoman from Kano, Rabi Muhammad, for attempting to smuggle cocaine and opioids into the country through the Seme border in Lagos. Muhammad's plan was foiled when NDLEA operatives discovered a cleverly designed fake baby bump, which concealed over 3,200 capsules of tramadol, weighing around 1.25 kilograms.
This brazen attempt at deceit has raised concerns about the growing trend of creative smuggling techniques employed by traffickers. The fake baby bump, made from a pink calabash, was a convincing disguise that almost went unnoticed. It's a stark reminder of the lengths to which traffickers will go to circumvent security measures and bring illicit substances into the country.
Meanwhile, in another operation, NDLEA operatives at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) intercepted a 41-year-old Ivorian national, Michael Gohouri, who had ingested 82 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.49 kilograms. Gohouri had arrived in Lagos from Milan on January 17 and had been shuttling between Lagos and Enugu for three weeks before traveling to Kano. His plan was to deliver the cocaine in Milan for a hefty sum of 5,000 Euros.
Gohouri's case highlights the transnational nature of the drug trade, with traffickers operating across borders and continents. The fact that he claimed to have ties to both Côte d'Ivoire and Enugu State in Nigeria underscores the complex web of relationships and networks that underpin the illicit trade.
These arrests serve as a reminder of the ongoing struggle to combat drug trafficking in Nigeria. As traffickers become increasingly creative in their methods, it's essential that law enforcement agencies adapt and remain vigilant to stay one step ahead. The NDLEA's efforts to disrupt the drug trade are crucial in protecting the nation's security and public health.
