The National Assembly Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) inspected ongoing NDDC projects in Cross River State on Tuesday. The team, led by Sen. Asuquo Ekpenyong, assessed the transparency, progress and impact of the projects across the state. During a meeting with Gov. Bassey Otu, Ekpenyong stated the inspection fulfilled the committee's constitutional oversight role and supported President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. He praised the Otu administration for delivering visible development projects that were improving residents' lives. "I am confident of improved outcomes in Cross River, we shall continue to collaborate with the state to accelerate project delivery to the people's benefit," Ekpenyong said.
Otu welcomed the committee's oversight role, describing it as vital for accountability and national development. He said the visit would boost collaboration between the state and federal government, improving governance and service delivery. He urged continued federal intervention projects to enhance community wellbeing. The NDDC Managing Director, Samuel Ogbuku, disclosed that the commission was constructing about 27km of roads in the state, with 10.7km already completed. He credited the progress to strong partnership between the NDDC and the Cross River State government.
