Duke and Michigan Cruise to Sweet 16 with Dominant Performances
Duke Blue Devils and Michigan Wolverines have secured their spots in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, each overcoming significant challenges to emerge victorious. In the Blue Devils' 81-58 win over TCU, star freshman Cam Boozer shone in the second half, scoring 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to help his team pull away from the Horned Frogs.
Duke's win was not without its early struggles, as TCU briefly took the lead in the second half before Boozer's heroics took over. The return of center Patrick Ngongba from injury also proved crucial, as he played 12 minutes and scored four points. Dame Sarr added 14 points, including four key three-pointers, to help seal the win.
In a different matchup, Michigan Wolverines dominated the Saint Louis Billikens 95-72, with bigs Yaxel Lendeborg and Aday Mara leading the charge. The Billikens' well-oiled attack initially gave the Wolverines a run for their money, but Michigan's top gear proved too much to handle.
The victories mark a successful first weekend for the Blue Devils and Wolverines, and set them up for potentially exciting matchups in the Sweet 16.
Michigan's performance against Saint Louis was a masterclass display of their top gear, and it's clear they're a force to be reckoned with in the tournament. Yaxel Lendeborg and Aday Mara's two-way attack was unstoppable, and it's hard to see anyone stopping them in the Sweet 16.
