According to authorities, Ibrahim and Hassan were from Katsina and had been at odds for months. Despite resolving their issues and relocating to Benin City for work, Ibrahim's anger lingered, and he saw an opportunity to exact revenge on his cousin. Under the guise of fetching herbs for his stomach upset, Ibrahim lured Hassan to a remote farm road on his motorcycle, where he brutally beheaded him with a cutlass. The shocking discovery was made when Hassan's associates reported him missing in Evbuoarue. A distress call was sent to the Edo State Security Corps, who launched a manhunt for the perpetrator.
