Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (born Mahmoud Sabbaghian on 28 October 1956) is an Iranian conservative politician, engineer, and academic. He served as Iran’s sixth president from 2005 to 2013. Known for his principlist and nationalist views, he strongly supported Iran’s nuclear program for peaceful purposes. Before his presidency, Ahmadinejad was mayor of Tehran from 2003 to 2005, where he reversed many moderate reforms and became known for his strict religious views and simple lifestyle.
