**Lighting Up Rivers Communities: A New Dawn for Etche**
For over a decade, the people of Etche in Rivers State have suffered in darkness. But, thanks to the tireless efforts of their local government chairman, Mr. Chima Njoku, this has come to an end. In a remarkable feat, Njoku has lit up over 40 communities in the area, ending the decade-long blackout that had plagued the region.
During his campaign, Njoku made a bold promise to restore electricity to the communities, which had been without power for years. And, true to his word, he has made it happen. The Etche LGA, which falls within the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) jurisdiction, had been neglected for far too long. However, Njoku refused to give up. He approached Aba Power, Nigeria's newest power distribution company based in Aba, Abia State, and sought their assistance.
The result is nothing short of miraculous. Communities that were once shrouded in darkness are now alive with the hum of electricity. Residents are celebrating the resurgence of their town, Etche, which is now bustling with activity.
According to Edise Ekong, Senior Brand and Communication Manager at Aba Power, the company was initially hesitant to supply power to the Etche LGA due to the PHEDC's jurisdiction. However, Njoku's persistent efforts eventually paid off, and an agreement was reached to supply power to the communities.
Ekong expressed delight at the positive outcome, stating that the communities are satisfied with the constant power supply, quality, and tariff. He emphasized that, once gas supply is secured, customers can expect uninterrupted electricity, subject to local issues such as vandalism or infrastructure damage.
This achievement not only highlights Njoku's commitment to his people but also underscores the importance of innovative thinking and collaboration. As communities and big manufacturing firms outside Abia State explore the possibility of partnering with Aba Power, it is clear that this is a new dawn for Etche and the surrounding areas.
As one resident, Mr. Amadi Akujiobi, aptly put it, "The Chairman of the Etche Local Government Council has kept his promise to light up our communities. We are grateful for his efforts, and we look forward to a brighter future for Etche."
