The report, which assessed business environments nationwide, noted that Lagos State's business-friendly environment makes it an attractive destination for investors. The state's strategic location and infrastructure also contributed to its ranking.
The report was unveiled during The Reform and Diplomatic Roundtable 2026, an event organised by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council.
The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council must be commended for its efforts in promoting business-friendly policies in Nigeria. However, the fact remains that Lagos State's ranking as the best state for doing business is a reflection of the state's economic dominance, rather than a universal success story. The council should focus on replicating the state's business-friendly environment in other parts of the country. This would help to spread economic growth and development across Nigeria, rather than concentrating it in one state. The council must also address the issue of infrastructure development in other states, which remains a major challenge to doing business in Nigeria.
