**Lagos PDP Gets a New State Chair: A Call to Action Against APC's Anti-Democratic Tendencies**
As the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State inaugurates its new executive, former Deputy National Chairman Chief Bode George has called on party members to remain vigilant and not allow the All Progressives Congress (APC) to destroy the PDP. George, who has been a long-time advocate for party unity and internal democracy, emphasized that the PDP is the only truly national party in Nigeria, unlike APC which he described as a coalition of "strange bedfellows."
The PDP's recent convention in Ibadan, which was seen as a significant step towards strengthening the party's internal democracy, has apparently caught APC off guard. In a desperate attempt to undermine the PDP's efforts, APC has been using the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to truncate the party's processes. However, George believes that Nigerians are not fooled by APC's tactics and are ready to re-elect the PDP in 2027.
The new Lagos State Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Amos Fawole, has pledged to lead the party with integrity and a strong commitment to its ideals. Fawole emphasized that the party's goal is not just to conduct ceremonial transitions, but to reposition the party, reawaken hope among the people, and rescue the state from stagnation through people-centred politics.
The new Chairman faces a daunting task, but he is undaunted. He has outlined a clear vision for the party, which includes rebuilding trust, strengthening party structures, and uniting all tendencies under a common vision. Fawole's leadership will be tested by the party's ability to meet the expectations of its members, particularly the youths, women, and professionals.
As the PDP in Lagos State embarks on this new journey, it is clear that the stakes are high. The party must demonstrate its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and accountability. The APC, on the other hand, must be held accountable for its undemocratic tendencies and its failure to deliver on its campaign promises.
Ultimately, the fate of Lagos State and the PDP hangs in the balance. The new executive must rise to the challenge and prove that the party is capable of delivering on its promises and providing effective leadership to the people of Lagos.
