Five forest guards were killed in a coordinated attack by armed bandits on a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Nuku village, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. The assault occurred at approximately 0345 hours on Friday, according to police spokesperson Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi. She confirmed that the attackers shot the guards and severely damaged a police patrol vehicle before being repelled by PMF personnel stationed at the camp. The victims were members of the National Forest Guard.
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police condemned the attack and extended condolences to the families of the deceased. Police stated that intelligence-driven operations have begun to apprehend the perpetrators. Continuous monitoring of the area is underway to prevent further security lapses. Residents were urged to assist security agencies with information to support the investigation.
